The Most Scrumptious Chocolate Pear Pudding

Our delicious Chocolate Pear Pudding recipe is a delightful indulgence. It is a perfect blend of rich cocoa and juicy pears that will enchant your taste buds with every spoonful.

Ingredients

  • 200g butter, plus extra for greasing
  • 300g golden caster sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 75g plain flour
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 410g can pear halves in juice, drained
  • 100g plain dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)

To serve, you can pair this pudding with flaked almonds and cream. Our residents particularly enjoy it with some sliced pear and chocolate sauce.

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5 and lightly grease a 20 x 30cm shallow ovenproof dish.
  2. Place the butter in a large saucepan and warm over a low heat until just melted. Remove the butter from the heat and stir in the sugar until well combined.
  3. Whisk the eggs together in a large bowl. Gradually add the eggs to the butter and sugar, beating well with a wooden spoon in between each addition. Sift the flour and cocoa powder on top of the egg mixture. To combine, beat with a wooden spoon.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin or dish and place the pears into the chocolate batter.
  5. Put the block of dark chocolate on a board and cut it into chunky pieces. Scatter the chocolate pieces over the batter and sprinkle with almonds, if you are using them.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until the mixture is golden on the surface and lightly cooked inside. Serve warm with your desired topping.
