We are passionate carers dedicated to providing quality, one-to-one care in our warm, comfortable residential care home, a former manor house, surrounded by 9-acres of picturesque, landscaped gardens located in Speldhurst on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do, putting their comfort and independence first. We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere and regular activities for our residents who need both long-term and short respite.

A home from home

Is it the welcoming country house atmosphere, the nine acres of landscaped gardens in the heart of the Kent Weald, the caring staff or the smell of home-cooked food wafting from the kitchen that makes Birchwood feel like home? People tell us whatever it is Birchwood feels like home the minute they step through the front door.

“The home is situated in lovely grounds and the conservatory is a delight, especially at Christmas with the decorations. The staff are like a family to the residents and the level of care provided is exemplary, at all levels. The home is always clean and fresh and the in-house catering very good. As relatives of one of the residents, we could not ask for more!”

Warm friendly environment

The picturesque grounds surrounding Birchwood House can be enjoyed all year round by our residents. Our 31 bedrooms include double rooms that are mostly south and west facing with views over the glorious High Kent Weald. We believe that if you eat well, you live well, which is why we go that extra mile when it comes to preparing highly nutritious meals that cater for special dietary requirements.

“Very homely atmosphere and very caring staff led by the manager. Excellent food, warm, bright rooms. First class care home.”

Keeping active

We run weekly activities and annual events for our residents. Our weekly Music for Health sessions always raises the noise level and our Reminiscences sessions run by qualified therapists encourage everyone to share their life stories. Our yearly Summer BBQ is always one our residents look forward to and our first ever Harvest Hoedown in 2020 combined music, dressing up and games which everyone joined in with and created lots of happy faces.

“The care my dad receives at Birchwood is exceptional. The staff are so kind and caring and we know he is getting the best care and all that he needs. It is really hard trying to move a loved one into a care home but the team ay Birchwood ensured the process was dealt with both support and understanding for both Dad and us. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.”
