Homemade Meatloaf

Homemade Meatloaf

The recipe we’ve picked this month is meatloaf, packed with flavour and bringing zero hassle! Pair with potatoes for an easy comfort meal – perfect for a family, and perfect for our residents.

Prep Time: 20 Minutes, Cook Time: 1 Hour 30 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 750g of lean beef mince
  • 175g of pork sausage meat
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1 clove of garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon of sage leaves (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato purée

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees (Celsius).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, pour in all the ingredients and combine together. It’s best to use your hands and get stuck in!
  3. Place your combined mixture into a 900g loaf tin, patting it down until level. Oil a piece of greaseproof paper, before placing it on top of the mixture and popping it into the oven.
  4. Bake in the oven for 1 hour 30 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through. 15 minutes before the end of cooking your meatloaf, remove the paper – this allows the top to develop a nice, crispy crust!
  5. We’ve paired it with mash, carrots and gravy, but choose your add-ons as you wish.
