Gluten free chocolate cakes

There’s nothing better than chocolate for a sweet treat, and these gluten free chocolate cakes were absolutely delicious! We took inspiration from My Gluten Free Guide, and found this was a very popular pudding for our residents.

Sometimes, as we get older we can become more sensitive to gluten, as digestive health often changes with age. These cakes are a great way to have a fun treat whilst being kind to our digestive system!

Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients (for 4 portions)

  • 110 grams of dark chocolate
  • 80 grams of salted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100 grams of caster sugar
  • 40 grams of plain, gluten free flour

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  2. Microwave the chocolate and butter together. Add small pieces of chocolate and butter to a bowl and microwave in short blasts until you get a smooth, glossy mixture.
  3. Carefully whisk in the eggs and sugar to the mixture until combined.
  4. Add the flour, again stirring until combined.
  5. Divide the mixture across four ramekins, then place into the oven and bake for 17 minutes.
  6. Take out the oven and eat while hot! The inside of the cakes will have a chocolate lava centre, with a brownie-like outside.
