MEET THE TEAM

At Birchwood House, our residents and staff are both very important to us. We have kind, caring staff who know all the residents well and our small size promotes a real family feel in the home. We believe this is one of our real strengths and why our residents love being with us. If you come for a visit, it’s very likely that you will find our staff spending time with the residents, engaging with them and listening to their stories.

We are a care home with qualified staff who genuinely care about our residents. You can feel the family vibe as soon as you walk through our doors, and that family feel is also felt between our staff. We want to make sure that everyone enjoys their time at our home and feels stimulated as well as cared for every day.

I like working at Birchwood because every day you learn more from the residents about their lives and experiences as you build relationships with them. The staff are wonderful and we will do whatever we can to help one another to ensure the smooth running of the home and making the residents feel cared for and appreciated and their time here fulfilling.

Tina

Manager

Tina has been in Health and Social Care for over 35 years and describes her career as a passion and a labour of love! She entered the world of management in the 90s amid major regulatory changes and understands it’s challenging, but also invigorating, hugely rewarding and enjoyable. She believes there is no limit to what you can create in the way of a happy home.

Claire

Deputy Manager

Claire started her career in care at the age of 18 by volunteering to work the night shift with her mother. She took to it instantly helping and chatting with residents during the night and 21 years later she still works in the industry that she loves and thrives in; each day is different and full of new challenges.

Dionne

Team Leader

Dionne first started working in care in 2010. She had been cleaning for a gentleman who developed dementia. His family arranged for carers to look after him but he locked them out and told them to go away. The family approached her and asked if she would consider caring for him. 10 years later, Dionne hasn’t looked back. She always returned with joy to be back. “Birchwood House is a great place to work and has such a great family atmosphere.”

Lisa

Team Leader

Lisa joined Birchwood House as a Team Leader in July. People centred care has always been a prominent passion of hers; as a child, she dreamed of being a midwife. When asked to describe herself in three words, Lisa shared that she is loud, friendly, and outgoing. Her energy brings enthusiasm to the halls of Birchwood House.

The main reason I like working at Birchwood is because I enjoy being with the residents, not just the personal care but the time that I spend with them, chatting to them and getting to know each resident individually. I also enjoy working with the team, they are so friendly and welcoming.
