Is it the welcoming country house atmosphere, the nine acres of landscaped gardens in the heart of the Kent Weald, the caring staff or the smell of home-cooked food wafting from the kitchen that makes Birchwood feel like home? We're not sure, but we do know people tell us Birchwood feels like home the minute they step through the front door.
We are incredibly lucky at Birchwood to have qualified staff who have a passion for caring. They are motivated to give the best care possible to our residents, ensuring that all of them receive the care detailed in their agreed, tailored plans. But they go far beyond the care plans, using their initiative and their personal knowledge of each of our residents to respond to their individual needs to deliver truly personalised care.
Birchwood is far from a rest home: it is a home where residents meet new friends and find new interests. Professional therapists lead weekly music for health sessions and structured reminiscences, while one of our full-time staff runs a variety of activities, ranging from games to crafts. Plus we have regular excursions and seasonal parties - supplemented with excellent home-made cakes prepared by our chef.
